Question. I have this dry annoying cough that just won't quit. (I had a cold just before it started). It gets worse when I try to sleep and has kept me awake for 3 nights now. Any ideas on how to stop it. I've tried eucalyptus and tea tree in a defuser. I've tried peppermint, ginger, honey, lemon, apple cider vinegar in teas. And I've tried steaming up my bathroom with eucalyptus. Nothing is working. All I want is some sleep. Thank you in advance.

- Deborah Meyerriecks Honestly, it doesn't sound like you need to stop it. It sounds like you are impacted and you need an expectorant to loosen up mucous in your lungs so when you cough you can expel it before it infects.

- Wendy Forte Thank you Deborah Meyerriecks. Looks like I was on the right path with some of what I was doing (ginger, honey, lemon). I have much pine in the house right now. I will try that too. Thank you
- Bernadette Montana There is one thing tho...great kills the active ingredients in essential oils. You need a cold mist diffuser for the oils to work. With a hot diffuser..the aroma is still there...but not the other benefits.
- Bernadette Montana Pine needle tea is a wonderful source of vitamin c
- Lori Beck Sorry to be 'off topic' here. But I would get a dry cough that would last for months. Especially any time we got a lot of rain. Went on for a few years. Would get a tickle in my throat and a dry annoying cough. Lived on cough drops. Even at night would go to sleep with a cough drop in my mouth to try to help so I could try to sleep. Someone suggested this stuff called Sinus Blaster. Worked like a charm. Now I only take it whenever I feel a little stuffy or any post nasal drip. I got mine from Mother Earth. The pic is an older bottle. It's now just called sinus blaster. A friend I told about it ordered it from Amazon. Good luck
- Deborah Meyerriecks Lori Beck, definitely not off topic. That's a great product!
- Lori Beck Thanks. Wasn't sure since it's not an EO
- Bernadette Montana Its on topic Hon...it's an herbal supplement
- Deborah Meyerriecks Ah, I see. Part of the group name gets cut off.... We're more then just E.O.'s. All herbs.
- Wendy Forte I didn't know that about the cold mist diffuser vs a hot diffuser. Didn't even know there was a cold mist one.
Thank you everyone. - Deborah Meyerriecks Wendy Forte, I also want you to consider how long this condition has persisted. Have you experienced sore throat or hoarseness or loss of voice?
Another potential issue is mild acid reflux. It is possible to have early stages with out feeling the acid or having heartburn. However, the low level of acid coming up the esophagus causes the sinus to produce mucous to coat the trachea to prevent acid burns in the airway. This mucus - Wendy Forte It's only been 4 days. But I had a cold and as soon as I started to feel better the cough showed up. I've suffered from Heartburn my whole life, and have had that cough too. I believe this is from the cold.
I'm seeping pine needles right now. I Hope it doesn't matter what kind. - Deborah Meyerriecks I'm partial to Scotts pine or balsam pine, but all have their benefits.
- Wendy Forte Can any be poison? I was just going to use my Christmas tree. We cut our own. and I believe it was balsam pine
- Bernadette Montana I'm not sure...I think some trees are treated
- Wendy Forte ugg Okay I'm not going to risk it.
- Wendy Forte Thank you
- Deborah Meyerriecks A traditional Christmas tree type is safe. Other types of evergreens such as Yew are poisonous. Since I am on my phone I found a link for you that pretty much says what I would say...

- Lashette Williams Make sure you have a pine tree and not cypress. I've been noticing a lot of cypress trees this year. Not sure if it will have the same affect. But I didn't read Deb's link yet.

- Wendy Forte I love all the info I received thru this post!! I've wanted to learn for awhile what to do if the world is no longer what it is today. How can you survive on what the earth gives you when man isn't around to mess it up
