Back to The Essentials with Bernadette! Flu Bomb and Citrus Bliss Lip Balm
This weeks video is about my experience in dealing with the flu and how I used essential oils to help me deal with this illness and making my own lip balm!
I used a recipe call the "Flu Bomb" that is made with doTERRA On Guard Blend, Oregano and Melaluca (also commonly known as Tea Tree) Essential oils. Always remember to test for sensitivity when using ANY essential oils! I also recommend diluting oils in a base of fractionated coconut oil or almond oil.

The Many Uses Of Cedarwood Essential Oil!
This is from a doTERRA site that I belong too..
What About This Oil?
The Many Uses Of Cedarwood Oil…
Known for its rich hue and warm, woody scent, Cedarwood essential oil provides a myriad of health benefits that date back to biblical times. Cedarwood is native to cold climates, thriving in high altitudes and growing up to 100 feet. Reminiscent of its size and strength, Cedarwood has a grounding aroma that evokes feelings of wellness and vitality. Diffusing or inhaling Cedarwood will help maintain healthy breathing and respiratory function and, when applied topically, Cedarwood promotes clear, healthy skin. Additionally, Cedarwood is frequently used in massage therapy to relax and soothe the mind and body.
USES
• Diffuse after a stressful day to relax the mind and body.
• Use with a carrier oil in massage therapy.
• Add 1–2 drops to facial toner or moisturizer for
added clarifying properties.
• Inhale directly or diffuse to promote healthy
respiratory function.
Added benefits of Cedarwood…
Antiseptic – so it’s good for acne
Astringent – it can remove the oil from your skin if you have oily skin, but not dry it out
Anti-spasmodic
Insect Repellant (including killing bed bugs, their eggs and repelling them)
Did you know?
According to research, when inhaled, it can make you more relaxed, calmed and soothed. It goes directly to the GABA receptors in your brain. For anxiety, apply 2-3 drops to the base of skull, on either side of the back of your neck on the indents on either side.
It’s great to use on the skin. You can put it in a base, like doTERRA’s hand lotion. Good for eczema, psoriasis, wound healing and bug bites.
Hair loss – in an outside study 43% of 43 hair loss patients showed an improvement of hair loss with a combination of lavender, rosemary and cedarwood massaged topically to the scalp daily.
It is safe for use aromatically and topically but not internally. It is very powerful but doesn’t have negative side effects.
Please share comments on how you personally use Cedarwood oil in your life...

How to deal with a persistant cough using Essential Oils and Herbs!
This thread is on my "Brid's Closet Essential Oils and Herb's Forum" on Facebook. It is one that has gotten a LOT of replies. I would welcome your comments as well!
Question. I have this dry annoying cough that just won't quit. (I had a cold just before it started). It gets worse when I try to sleep and has kept me awake for 3 nights now. Any ideas on how to stop it. I've tried eucalyptus and tea tree in a defuser. I've tried peppermint, ginger, honey, lemon, apple cider vinegar in teas. And I've tried steaming up my bathroom with eucalyptus. Nothing is working. All I want is some sleep. Thank you in advance.

- Deborah Meyerriecks Honestly, it doesn't sound like you need to stop it. It sounds like you are impacted and you need an expectorant to loosen up mucous in your lungs so when you cough you can expel it before it infects.

- Wendy Forte Thank you Deborah Meyerriecks. Looks like I was on the right path with some of what I was doing (ginger, honey, lemon). I have much pine in the house right now. I will try that too. Thank you
- Bernadette Montana There is one thing tho...great kills the active ingredients in essential oils. You need a cold mist diffuser for the oils to work. With a hot diffuser..the aroma is still there...but not the other benefits.
- Bernadette Montana Pine needle tea is a wonderful source of vitamin c
- Lori Beck Sorry to be 'off topic' here. But I would get a dry cough that would last for months. Especially any time we got a lot of rain. Went on for a few years. Would get a tickle in my throat and a dry annoying cough. Lived on cough drops. Even at night would go to sleep with a cough drop in my mouth to try to help so I could try to sleep. Someone suggested this stuff called Sinus Blaster. Worked like a charm. Now I only take it whenever I feel a little stuffy or any post nasal drip. I got mine from Mother Earth. The pic is an older bottle. It's now just called sinus blaster. A friend I told about it ordered it from Amazon. Good luck
- Deborah Meyerriecks Lori Beck, definitely not off topic. That's a great product!
- Lori Beck Thanks. Wasn't sure since it's not an EO
- Bernadette Montana Its on topic Hon...it's an herbal supplement
- Deborah Meyerriecks Ah, I see. Part of the group name gets cut off.... We're more then just E.O.'s. All herbs.
- Wendy Forte I didn't know that about the cold mist diffuser vs a hot diffuser. Didn't even know there was a cold mist one.
Thank you everyone. - Deborah Meyerriecks Wendy Forte, I also want you to consider how long this condition has persisted. Have you experienced sore throat or hoarseness or loss of voice?
Another potential issue is mild acid reflux. It is possible to have early stages with out feeling the acid or having heartburn. However, the low level of acid coming up the esophagus causes the sinus to produce mucous to coat the trachea to prevent acid burns in the airway. This mucus - Wendy Forte It's only been 4 days. I'm seeping pine needles right now. I Hope it doesn't matter what kind. - Deborah Meyerriecks I'm partial to Scotts pine or balsam pine, but all have their benefits.
- Wendy Forte Can any be poison? I was just going to use my Christmas tree. We cut our own. and I believe it was balsam pine
- Bernadette Montana I'm not sure...I think some trees are treated
- Wendy Forte ugg Okay I'm not going to risk it.
- Wendy Forte Thank you
